It’s never too late (or too early for that matter!) to start getting organised for Christmas.

With just a couple of weeks left until the most festive day of the year, I’ve put together this checklist to help you with getting organised with Christmas.

The run-up to Christmas can be stressful, especially if you’re the main ‘Magic Maker’ in your household.

On top of the gift buying and food prep, there are also endless dates and events you’ll need to remember, especially if you have children.

This list should help keep you organised and remind you of all the things you need to do. I’ve also created a handy printable PDF CHRISTMAS Organisation Checklist.

Some items on this checklist won’t apply if you’re not planning on hosting Christmas this year.

There are also blank spaces for you add your own tasks to the list.

Christmas To-Do List – Getting Organised For Christmas

1.Plan and Prepare

  • Set a budget for gifts, decorations, food, and travel
  • Plan Christmas activities
  • Make a list of everyone you need to buy gifts for
  • Decide on the Christmas Day menu plus think about buffet items for Boxing Day
  • Plan any family gatherings, virtual calls, or parties
  • Organize any Christmas travel plans (flights, hotel bookings, or transportation, check passports are in date for your family)
  • Book a Christmas food shopping delivery slot if needed

Top Tip: Make a note of the last posting dates, especially if you need to send gifts abroad

2. Christmas Activities

  • Book A Visit to Father Christmas (these get booked up fast, so make sure you do this early)
  • Plan trips to Christmas Markets or Festivals
  • Book other Christmas activities such as Ice Skating, Pantomimes and light trails
  • Make a note of dates for children’s Nativity and Christmas Jumper Days
  • Plan a Christmas movie day or cinema trip

3. Shopping

  • Buy Christmas gifts for friends and family
    •  Order gifts online or buy in-store
    •  Get stocking fillers or small gifts
    • Pick up cards, wrapping paper, ribbons, and gift tags
    • Purchase tableware such as napkins and Chrismas crackers
  • Buy any new Christmas ornaments or decorations that are needed
  • Plan when to shop for seasonal food or start filling your online basket

4. Decorating

  • Set up and decorate the Christmas tree
  • Hang Christmas lights (inside and outside)
  • Place wreaths, garlands, and stockings around the house
  • Set up a Christmas centrepiece for the table
  • Decorate your front door or porch

5. Wrapping and Cards

  • Wrap all the Christmas presents
    • Add gift tags or labels
    • Use different coloured wrapping paper for each child
    • Box up gifts that need to be shipped
  • Write and deliver Christmas cards (or emails for virtual ones)
  • Address and mail Christmas cards if needed

Top tip: Remember to use a different wrapping paper for stocking fillers.

6. Christmas Eve and Day Prep

  • Prepare any dishes or food ahead of time for Christmas dinner
  • Set the table for Christmas dinner
  • Make sure stockings are ready for Santa
  • Put out milk and cookies for Santa (if applicable)
  • Ensure the kids’ Christmas gifts are placed under the tree

7. Take Time for Yourself

  • Schedule some relaxation or self-care time amidst the busy holiday preparations
  • Enjoy a quiet moment to reflect on the season and its meaning
