We love a board game in our household, so I was excited to try this new game, Flip Vision: See Upside Down.
The glasses that come with the game flip your vision upside down using mirrors, and there are then simple tasks to complete, such as drawing an animal or moving a coin.
While it sounds simple in principle, once the glasses were on, these tasks were actually quite tricky.
Playing Flip Vision With Kids
I played it with my eight-year-old daughter, as I thought it would be too tricky for my three-year-old to join in with, and I was right!
It is, in fact, so tricky that we struggled to complete many of the tasks, especially the ones involving a pen. The game box states 5+, but I think some children of this age would get frustrated quite easily.

I initially thought that the 14 tasks included wouldn’t be enough, but actually it was plenty. You could also easily invent your own challenges if you wanted to.
How Do the Flip Vision Glasses Work?
As an adult glasses wearer, I really struggled with the Flip Vision glasses. They are quite chunky and were ill-fitting over my own glasses.
With my glasses off, I couldn’t see what I needed to on the cards that you have to draw on.
So definitely have a think about whether the recipient wears glasses, as it could make the game even harder for them.
I also found that the glasses made me feel a bit sick, to be honest, and I wouldn’t be in a hurry to play this again.
You have to look a certain way through the glasses to see what you need to before you can attempt the task. I found myself not even looking and just trying to do it by feeling my way.
I think you could achieve a similar, and less uncomfortable, game by just being blindfolded.
The Flip Vision Water Challenge
We didn’t even attempt the water challenge, as I didn’t even want to think about the potential mess it was going to create!
Is Flip Vision a Good Family Game?
One thing I did like about Flip Vision is that the box is nice and small, making this a great game to take away on holiday. Plus, all the parts do feel like they are good quality.

I do think this would make a fun party game for a group, or perhaps at Christmas for the kids before bringing out Trivial Pursuit.
With a group of children, I think watching everyone attempt the challenges could actually be part of the fun. Maybe our issue was just the two of us playing it!
However, I cannot see this game being a go-to for our family of board game fanatics.
