Overall Impressions
My eight-year-old loved it.
Our favourite thing to do was set up some targets and see if we could hit them.
The kids especially loved it when two balls came out of the blaster at once!
It also makes a really satisfying ‘pop’ noise when the balls are fired, which added to the fun without being to noisy or annoying (and that’s coming from a parent who is super sensitive to noise!)
These are definitely going to get plenty of use over the summer holidays.
Easy To Use
The air-powered mechanism makes this blaster super easy to use, and we loved having all 12 balls loaded and ready to go at once.
I also liked that it doesn’t need batteries and that nothing felt fiddly or awkward to use – you simply pop the balls back in the way they came out to reload.
The balls are also well contained if you wanted to take it out and about – they won’t fall out easily when in the blaster.
We’ve been playing with it for a couple of weeks now, and it seems to be holding up well in terms of durability.
Who Is It Suitable For?
This product is recommended for children aged 8 and over. I did let my toddler have a go, but it was definitely a bit too tricky for him to manage at his age.
That said, I think most six- and seven-year-olds would probably enjoy it and be able to fire it quite easily.
I can see this being a huge hit with children who already enjoy active, target-based games and toys like foam dart blasters.
If your child already enjoys this style of play, I think the AirShot Pop Blaster would make an excellent gift.
And if they have a sibling, a second one might not be a bad idea either!
Safety First
From a safety point of view, I would remind children not to fire the balls at each other from too close a range.
While the foam balls are soft, they do shoot out quite fast. I don’t think they’d cause any significant injury, but they do sting a little if you’re hit from close up.
Although it can be used indoors, I’d make sure there’s plenty of space and nothing breakable nearby. The balls are light, but they do come out of the blaster surprisingly quickly.
Things To Consider
My kids did enjoy playing with this, although it’s not something my eight-year-old wanted to play with for hours on end (despite saying she loved it!). That said, she’s much more of a crafty, colouring type of child than one who naturally gravitates towards this sort of toy.
The only real downside for me is how easy it would be to lose the balls. They’re small and lightweight, so I can easily imagine them disappearing under sofas and other furniture.
As the blaster can shoot balls over 30 feet, I was also a bit concerned about losing them over the garden fence.
In fact, I didn’t let my children use it in our own garden for that reason – I waited until we visited Grandma, whose garden has much higher fences!
