The weather here in the U.K. is currently rather wet and windy and I’m sitting at my desk dreaming of sunnier climes.
Here is my Travel Bucket List, the top places I would like to travel to in the coming months and years, featuring both UK and European destinations.
1. Croatia
In particular, I would love to visit Dubrovnik for the history and because we love Game of Thrones! This is definitely the type of place I could see myself and my husband doing as a grown-up get away for a big birthday.
Only three years until the big 4-0 so might have to add Dubrovnik the travel plans for 2027 and start saving!

2. Iceland
We booked to go to Iceland in 2017 but had to cancel. I found out I was pregnant which meant many of our planned activities (such as sledging) would no longer be feasible and I suffered with terrible morning sickness, which meant travel would have been very difficult anyway.
I hope we can get there one day to see the northern lights and head out on a boat to do some whale watching.
If we do go, I’ll definitely be purchasing a GoPro to take some footage of our adventures!
3. Edinburgh
My husband went to Edinburgh on a stag do a few years ago and has been very keen to go back since as being with a big group of lads, he didn’t really get to see much of the city.
We are hoping to do a couples getaway for our tenth wedding anniversary in 2016 where we can visit the zoo, climb Arthur’s seat and eat lots of really good food.
4. Eftling, The Netherlands
I love theme parks and while I’m a big fan of Disneyworld and Disneyland, I love the idea of exploring a more traditional type of fairytale park.
Eftling is in The Netherlands and features rides, shows, animals, live entertainment and pristine gardens and is somewhere I would like to take my children while they are still young.

5. Norwegian Fjords Cruise
I am an absolute sucker for some stunning scenery and this type of cruise is something many of my family members have done recently.
I think a cruise would be the best way to experience everything the Fjords have to offer although this one might have to wait until the children area a bit older!

6. Salzburg
I think this one my take some persuading for my husband to agree but I would love to visit Salzburg for one very specific reason?

Yes, I am a huge musical theatre fan. And what better way to celebrate that with a tour of the filming location of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, The Sound of Music?
I want to run around the fountain and skip along the track swishing my skirt and singing. I believe there are specific tours that you can book the cover all the main locations which would be a must-do for me.
7. Disney Cruise
Having visited Disneyland Paris, Disneyland California and Disney world, I would love to add a Disney cruise to that list and of course the fact it’s super family-friendly means it might be something we think about in the next few years.
8. Lake Garda, Italy
When I think about visiting Italy, I am always torn between visiting Rome or heading somewhere else.
Typically I don’t love being in big cities (although I must admit I was surprised at how much I loved Las Vegas!) and I’ve heard lots of horror stories about crowds and passports and phone being stolen when in Rome.
So, while Lake Garda is still very commercial, I do think for me it would be preferable than staying in the hustle and bustle of the city.
Ideally, I’d do a few day trips, including Verona to visit Juliet’s Balcony.
I also love that you can cruise from Southampton rather than needing to travel from the USA first.
9. Lapland
Like many parents, I would love to take our children to Lapland one day. The snow, the chance of seeing the northern lights, sledging, it just all sounds so magical and Christmassy.
I’ve been reading about how to book a DIY trip to Lapland and it’s definitely something I’ll keep in mind for the future!
While I love to travel, with family and work commitments, we don’t always get away as much as I would like, and of course like most people, our budget is limited too.
However, it is still really nice to sit here and dream about the places we might go one day!
