When Is Pancake Day 2026?
This year, Shrove Tuesday fall on 17th February.
Make Pancakes – Simple Recipe
The first and most obvious pancake day activity is to make some pancakes!
Here in the U.K., our pancakes tend to be thin, similar to French crepes. I’ve put together a simple recipe below to help you get started.
You Will Need:
- 100 grams of flour
- 300 MLS of Milk
- 2 eggs
- Oil or butter for cooking
- Your choice of toppings eg. lemon, sugar, syrup etc.
Method:
1. Mix together the flour, eggs and milk in a mixing bowl.
2. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
3. Add half a ladle of pancake mix to the pan, and using the handle, move the pan around so the mixture spreads out evenly.
4. Cook for around one minute on each side, until golden brown.
5. Serve with your choice of toppings.

Make Pancake Toppings
You could make many different toppings for your pancakes such as chocolate sauce, caramel sauce or even fruit kebabs.
You could also whip cream, chop up nuts or slice up some bananas.

- It’s a fun day to enjoy delicious food before starting this special season of reflection and preparation.
- Lent lasts for 40 days, symbolizing the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert.
- By giving up something like sweets, social media, or a favourite activity, people try to focus more on their faith and less on distractions – helping them feel closer to god.
