With Mother’s Day fast approaching (here in the UK, we celebrate on March 31st) I’ve put together a range of gifts to give ideas for even the trickiest to buy for mums.

From handmade jewellery to vegan chocolate, there is something to suit every taste and every budget.

JP. Chenet Sparkling Rosè Delight

A bottle of pink fizzy wine with a silver top.

Known for its smooth, crisp taste and fine bubbles, JP Chennet is a well-regarded wine brand that offers a luxurious experience, making it a thoughtful yet budget-friendly gift.

As someone who prefers her drinks with a bit of sparkle, this is exactly the type of thing I would love to receive on Mother’s Day, with the added bonus of it being a bit lower in alcohol than your average bottle of wine.

Available to purchase from Ocado.

The Charity Shop Gift Card

A hand holding up a chairty shop gift card with a flowery bush in the background

As someone passionate about shopping second-hand, I love the idea of the Charity Shop Gift card.

Here’s why a charity shop gift card can be a great gift:

  • Help Support a Good Cause: The best part of a charity shop gift card is that it helps fund important causes.
  • Eco-Friendly: Encourages buying second-hand items rather than new, which promotes sustainability and reduces waste.

  • Thoughtful: Giving a Charity Shop Gift Card shows that you’ve considered the recipient’s values and interests (honestly, I would love to be gifted one of these!)

  • Budget-Friendly: Depending on the charity shop, items can often be more affordable than in traditional retail stores, meaning better value for money.

Currently, over 2,000 charity shops nationwide accept the Charity Shop Gift Card and this number is growing all the time.

However, I do think it’s worth mentioning to the recipient that the card isn’t accepted in all charity shops just yet.

Charities that accept the card include Shelter, YMCA, Marie Curie and Sense with a good amount of smaller regional charities in the scheme too. You can find a map of where the card is accepted here.

The Charity Shop Gift Card is available to buy from partnered charity shops, WH Smith, Sainsbury’s and larger Boots and Tesco stores.

It can be purchased as an e-voucher or physical gift card (which is made from recycled materials and is compostable – no plastic here!)

Cream Tea By Post
A classic cream tea; a white cup a saucer filled with tea, scones topped with cream and jam, one uncut scone and pots containing cream and jam, all placed on a blue and white checked cloth

If you can’t be with your Mum this Mother’s Day, you might be considering sending something by post.

While flowers or chocolates might be traditional, there are lots of other things you could consider too.

For example, did you know you can send a cream tea by post? This could be a lovely treat for your Mum to relax and enjoy in the afternoon, possibly even in the garden in the spring sunshine.

Here are a few places that offer this service:

Cornish Company Cream Tea– Includes everything needed for a lovely cream tea, comprising of scones, clotted cream, jam, tea and biscuits.

Gluten Free Cream Tea By Post – Perfect cream tea for those who are unable to eat gluten.

M&S Letter Afternoon Tea– While this doesn’t include traditional cream tea elements there are plenty of cakes and biscuits to be enjoyed. Plus this does have the bonus of being letterbox friendly – meaning it can be posted through the letterbox and the recipient doesn’t need to be in at the time of delivery.

Personalised Book From Wonderbly

We love the range of personalised books from Wonderbly and I’ve purchased three in the last year or so as gifts for my children and other family members.

At Christmas, we bought the ‘We Love Grandma This Much’ book for one of the children’s grandparents, and it was very well received.

We use an unusual moniker for this grandparent, and it was lovely being able to get the book personalised with the exact right name and spelling (something we don’t ever see on generic cards and books).

Of course, it was wonderful being able to include the children’s names in the book, too. This is the type of keepsake item we know will be treasured for many years to come.

Enjoy £10 off your first purchase from Wonderbly

I hope this guide has inspired you to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift!

Whether it’s something heartfelt, practical, or just for fun, the most important thing is showing your love and appreciation for the amazing moms in your life.

Wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day filled with joy and special moments. Happy gifting!
