Starting your day on the right foot can set a positive tone for everything that follows
A healthy morning routine can have many benefits: it can make you feel more energised, improve your emotion well being and enhance your mental clarity.
Take a look at my checklist to help you create a morning routine that works for you.
A great morning routine doesn’t actually start in the morning it starts the night before.
Without enough quality sleep, even the best routine will feel like a struggle rather than a boost.
Making sleep a priority helps you wake up with more energy, better focus, and a clearer mindset for the day ahead.
- Upgrading your mattress – if it no longer feels supportive, many people find a Hybrid Mattress offers a comfortable balance of support and softness.
- Avoiding screens before bed – as blue light can interfere with your body’s natural sleep signals.
- Keeping your bedroom cool and comfortable – to help your body relax more easily
- Sticking to a consistent sleep schedule – even at the weekend.
- Choosing breathable bedding – to help regulate your temperature throughout the night.
1. Aim For A Consistent Wake-Up Time
Waking up at the same time each day is good for your overall health.
Avoid hitting the snooze button and try to skip lie-ins, even at the weekend as this will help to regulate your body’s internal clock.
2. Stay Hydrated
Most of us are aware we need to drink more water.
Starting your day by drinking a glass of water helps rehydrate your body after sleep and can kick start your metabolism.
3. Try Practicing Mindfulness
Journaling three things that you are grateful for at the start of each day can help you shift to a positive mindset and cheerier outlook, even after a bad nights sleep,
Spending just ten minutes either meditating or practising deep breathing can help to eliminate stress.

4. Move Your Body
When you wake up and are feeling groggy, exercise is probably the last thing on your mind.
But starting the day with simple stretches, a brisk walk or even some yoga can easily boost your energy and mood.
5. Eat A Healthy Breakfast
Eating a healthy breakfast is an essential part of any morning routine.
For a nutrient-rich breakfast, opt for healthy fats, protein and whole grains. Think oatmeal with fruit, a veggie omelette or a homemade smoothie.
Try to limit sugars as much as possible as these can lead to an energy crash later on in the day.
Breakfast is also the perfect time to take any vitamins or health supplements.
6. Make A Plan For Your Day

Lists are a great way to plan your day and figure out which tasks you need to prioritise.
You may also want to plan dinner – get anything that needs defrosing out from the freezer and consider the best time to prep vegetables and other components.
Meal boxes such as Hello Fresh can help with this too – knowing what you’ll be eating each night helps reduce the mental load, and there’s no need to shop for missing ingredients – everything you need is perfectly portioned in the box.
7. Limit Screen Time
Screen time can be a huge time suck in the mornings, especially if you check email or social media as soon as you wake up.
Doom scrolling is definitely not part of a healthy morning routine!
Instead try listing to an inspiring audio book or uplifting podcast to help set your mood for the day.
8. Make Time For Personal Care
Personal care is an important part of any morning routine. While there might not always be time for a full-blown luxury shower routine, there are some things you can do to ensure you feel your best.
Invest In Your Skincare Routine: Cleansing and moisturizing your skin can make you feel refreshed when you don’t have time for anything else.
Tip: Don’t forget to include SPF if you’ll be heading out for the day.
Dress Mindfully: Choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and comfortable (even when working from home) as this can have a positive impact on your mindset for the day.
Tip: Make life easier by planning your outfit the night before.

9. Check In With Your Loved Ones
This is especially important if you live on your own.
Checking in with loved ones for a quick conversation can help make you feel connected and enhance your mood.
This could even be a cuddle with your pet!
10. Set a Positive Tone
Using positive affirmations can encourage self-belief and confidence as you step into your day.
Here are some examples that you could use:
“I am confident and ready to tackle the day with strength and grace”
“I am ready to embrace new experiences and challenges”
“I am Loved. I am Enough’
Creating a healthy morning routine doesn’t have to be complicated.
You can choose a few items from this list and gradually start building them into your day one at a time. The main thing is to be consistent until a habit is formed.
With time, you’ll find that these healthier habits become second nature, setting you up for success each day that passes.
Embrace these morning routines, and watch how they transform your life!
